Description : This book presents original contributions on the theories and practices of emerging Internet, data and Web technologies and their applicability in businesses, engineering and academia, focusing on advances in the life-cycle exploitation of data generated from the digital ecosystem data technologies that create value, e.g. for businesses, toward a collective intelligence approach. The Internet has become the most proliferative platform for emerging large-scale computing paradigms. Among these, data and web technologies are two of the most prominent paradigms and are found in a variety of forms, such as data centers, cloud computing, mobile cloud, and mobile Web services. These technologies together create a digital ecosystem whose cornerstone is the data cycle, from capturing to processing, analyzing and visualizing. The investigation of various research and development issues in this digital ecosystem are made more pressing by the ever-increasing requirements of real-world applications that are based on storing and processing large amounts of data. The book is a valuable resource for researchers, software developers, practitioners and students interested in the field of data and web technologies.
Description : This book presents original contributions on the theories and practices of emerging Internet, Data and Web technologies and their applications in businesses, engineering and academia. As a key feature, it addresses advances in the life-cycle exploitation of data generated by digital ecosystem technologies. The Internet has become the most proliferative platform for emerging large-scale computing paradigms. Among these, Data and Web technologies are two of the most prominent paradigms, manifesting in a variety of forms such as Data Centers, Cloud Computing, Mobile Cloud, Mobile Web Services, and so on. These technologies altogether create a digital ecosystem whose cornerstone is the data cycle, from capturing to processing, analysis and visualization. The need to investigate various research and development issues in this digital ecosystem has been made even more pressing by the ever-increasing demands of real-life applications, which are based on storing and processing large amounts of data. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable asset for all researchers, software developers, practitioners and students interested in the field of Data and Web technologies.
Description : The Asia-Paci?c region has emerged in recent years as one of the fastest g- wing regions in the world in the use of Web technologies as well as in making signi?cant contributions to WWW research and development. Since the ?rst Asia-Paci?c Web conference in 1998, APWeb has continued to provide a forum for researchers, professionals, and industrial practitioners from around the world to share their rapidly evolving knowledge and to report new advances in WWW technologies and applications. APWeb 2004 received an overwhelming 386 full-paper submissions, including 375 research papers and 11 industrial papers from 20 countries and regions: A- tralia,Canada,China,France,Germany,Greece,HongKong,India,Iran,Japan, Korea, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UK, USA, and Vietnam. Each submission was carefully reviewed by three members of the p- gram committee. Among the 386 submitted papers, 60 regular papers, 24 short papers, 15 poster papers, and 3 industrial papers were selected to be included in the proceedings. The selected papers cover a wide range of topics including Web services, Web intelligence, Web personalization, Web query processing, Web - ching, Web mining, text mining, data mining and knowledge discovery, XML database and query processing, work?ow management, E-commerce, data - rehousing, P2P systems and applications, Grid computing, and networking. The paper entitled “Towards Adaptive Probabilistic Search in Unstructured P2P - stems”, co-authored by Linhao Xu, Chenyun Dai, Wenyuan Cai, Shuigeng Zhou, and Aoying Zhou, was awarded the best APWeb 2004 student paper.
Description : This book highlights the latest research findings, innovative research results, methods and development techniques, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, in the emerging areas of information networking, data and Web technologies. It gathers papers originally presented at the 5th International Conference on Emerging Internetworking, Data & Web Technologies (EIDWT-2017) held 10–11 June 2017 in Wuhan, China. The conference is dedicated to the dissemination of original contributions that are related to the theories, practices and concepts of emerging internetworking and data technologies – and most importantly, to how they can be applied in business and academia to achieve a collective intelligence approach. Information networking, data and Web technologies are currently undergoing a rapid evolution. As a result, they are now expected to manage increasing usage demand, provide support for a significant number of services, consistently deliver Quality of Service (QoS), and optimize network resources. Highlighting these aspects, the book discusses methods and practices that combine various internetworking and emerging data technologies to capture, integrate, analyze, mine, annotate, and visualize data, and make it available for various users and applications.
Description : An ever-increasing thirst for information in recent years among consumers, researchers, and the general population has necessitated continuous growth of internet architecture and accessibility, an issue which, if not addressed properly, may inhibit the growth of the internet as a whole. Solutions for Sustaining Scalability in Internet Growth investigates current issues impeding the growth of information architecture and explores methods for developing a wider-reaching and ever-evolving internet. The book presents viable solutions to some of the current threats to robust and pervasive information systems, enabling internet actors such as network providers, service providers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to ensure the creation of a more accessible and balanced internet.
Description : Presents the packet-switched and digital technologies, communications engineers need to understand. This book covers the Internet's architecture and protocols; digital voice and video; and digitalization technologies such as Voice-over-IP and MPEG-2. It also introduces Layer 3 Switching technologies, covering various approaches.

Description : This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Extending Database Technology, EDBT 2002, held in Prague, Czech Republic, in March 2002. The 36 revised full papers presented together with six industrial and application papers, 13 software demos and one invited paper were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 207 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on query transformation, data mining, XML, advanced query processing, moving objects, distributed data, distributed processing, advanced querying, XML-advanced querying, fundamental query services, estimation/histograms, and aggregation.
Description : Easy access to digital information in every form is something which has become indispensable given our ever-increasing reliance on digital technology. But such access would not be possible without the reliable and effective infrastructure which has led to the large-scale development of web technologies. This book presents the 27 papers delivered at the 6th International Conference on Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT), held in February 2015, at the University of Macau, Macau. The book is divided into seven sections: Internet communication, human-computer interaction, adaptive web applications, data communication, cloud computing, systems engineering, and data mining. Since each paper is a survey contributed by different experts from very many countries, this book can be seen as a collection of the current research trends in the field and hence it will be of interest to all those whose work involves digital information and web technology.
